[EN] [RO] PPD Romania becomes official Distributor of ALIRA Romanian premium wines

PPD Romania, the largest distributor of imported spirits in Romania, is pleased to announce it has become the official country distributor of multi-awarded ALIRA Romanian premium wines. Five premium Romanian wines produced by ALIRA on 80 ha of land in Aliman (Dobrogea) will be distributed nationwide in off and on trade locations by PPD Romania as part of the new partnership.

Starting with 2009, when ALIRA issued its first Merlot, the company now offers a full range of premium wines including Feteasca Neagra (the top local variety), Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Rose.

The five premium wines that will be represented by PPD Romania locally include: ALIRA 2009 – Merlot; ALIRA 2010 – Cabernet Sauvignon; ALIRA Tribun 2011 – blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Romanian grape Feteasca Neagra; ALIRA 2011 – Feteasca Neagra; and starting with 2012, ALIRA Rose.

ALIRA is a special wine that results from the combination between the excellent soil and extremely dry climate conditions from Aliman with the exquisite art of French winemaking, presenting us with balanced, friendly and easy to drink products.

“We are proud to represent ALIRA, boasting some of the best internationally-awarded Romanian wines, and thus further diversifying the categories within our spirits & wines portfolio. We strongly believe that Romania produces top quality wines, comparable with the best wines in the world, which have witnessed increased popularity and demand locally and internationally,” stated Nikos Xystouris, General Manager, PPD Romania.

“Started in 2006, by choosing an excellent terroir for red wines, continued under the supervision of renowned French winemaker Marc Dworkin, our project aims to provide the Romanian consumer with the best price quality rate wines in the premium segment. To achieve this goal we needed a strong partner, oriented to selling premium products, to understand and support our strategy. We found that partner in PPD Romania and we are confident that together we can bring in and mention Alira in the top of the good wines consumers preferences”, stated Ghenadie Bobeică, General Manager, WineRo.
