In an atmosphere of joy and emotion, the road race in memory of Photos Photiades was held—an event that combined remembrance, sport, and solidarity.
More than one hundred participants—runners, local residents, members of the Photos Photiades Group, and children—took part with energy and smiles, honoring the values of sport and giving back. Part of the proceeds from the event were donated to the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Society.
The race was an initiative of the Cyprus Runners Association “Periklis Dimitriou” and was held under the auspices of the Municipality of South Nicosia–Idalion. Sponsors included Photos Photiades Breweries, Agros Natural Mineral Water (1235 m altitude), and Photos Photiades Homes, all members of the Photos Photiades Group.
During the event, speeches highlighted the remarkable personality of Photos I. Photiades—a man who stood out in the Cypriot business community, always dedicating time to continuous learning and sports, while serving Cypriot society and the culture of our island with dedication. He firmly believed in the principle that “the Group should give back to society as much as possible in return for the support and trust with which society honors it.” At the same time, as a citizen of Idalion, he held a deep love for his city and its residents, whom he consistently supported in meaningful ways.
The event was honored by the presence of the Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry, Mr. George Papanastasiou, representing His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Nikos Christodoulides; the Director General of the Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance, Mr. Kostas Chatzipanayiotou; the Mayor of South Nicosia–Idalion, Mr. Stavros Chatzigiannis; other local officials; and representatives of the media.
