[EN] [RO] PPD Romania registers growth of revenues and volumes in 2012

PPD Romania, one of the top distributors of imported premium and super-premium spirits on the market representing more than 20 international brands, announces it has registered revenues of 26.1 million Euros in 2012, a 15% increase compared to the previous year. The profitability level remained at a comparable level to 2011, at around 2 million Euros, which is within the market’s average for imported spirits.

The total volume sold in 2012 grew to 216,000 9Liter cases (1.94 mln Liters), an increase by over 7% compared to 2011.

The positive results of 2012 were influenced by the launch of PPD Romania’s own vodka brand, TAZOVSKY Vodka, as well as the good performance of the reputable global brands in the portfolio, such as Johnnie Walker, J&B, Smirnoff, Bailey’s and others.

“We are pleased with the performance of 2012, when we succeeded to increase our volumes, through the strong partnership with Diageo and its globally-renown brands together with the launch of Tazovsky. As Romanian’s taste becomes more sophisticated, we estimate the imported spirits market still has a lot of room to grow. We intend to diversify further our portfolio as well as support existing brands, while at the same time build on the relationship with our clients, in order to capture a larger market share,” stated Nikos Xystouris, General Manager, PPD Romania.

J&B remained the top Scotch whisky choice for Romanians, and represents 50% of the total whisky sales for PPD Romania, which is the local market leader on the whisky category. While vodka and whisky remain the preferred spirits choices for Romanians, PPD Romania estimates that rum and tequila categories will keep growing, following the regional-level trends.

“In addition to developing our portfolio, we are also continuing to place a great focus on our own vodka brand, TAZOVSKY Vodka, that registered excellent results in its first 6 months on the market, being extremely well-received by Romanians and positively influencing our revenues,” added Xystouris.

PPD Romania a inregistrat o crestere a veniturilor si a volumelor in 2012 si estimeaza o evolutie asemanatoare si pentru acest an
